23rd January is not just a regular
holiday that we Bengalis celebrate. We have a lot of emotion on it. Religion, polity,
caste, class does not matter, we all gather to celebrate the birth anniversary of
our hero Shri Subhas Chandra Bose
or it will be even better to call ‘Netaji’ who was born in 1897 in Cuttack,
Orissa Division (Old Bengal Province). Of course it is celebrated all over the
India, but we Bengalis have some special place for him in our heart.
About 5 months after the disappearance of Netaji, the Netaji Jayanti was celebrated for the 1st time in Rangoon. Now Netaji Jayanti is an official holiday in West Bengal.
The Forward Bloc, honorable CM of WB Mamata Banerjee along with all the Bengalis and the family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose demanded Government of India to declare Netaji Jayanti as Deshprem Divas/ Patriots’ Day and National Holiday.
On 19th January 2021 Central Government declared that Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose i.e. Netaji Jayanti is going to be celebrated as Parakram DIwas.
