Here full
form of IFS is Indian Forest Service which is one of the three all India
service of Government of India. The other two all India services are Indian
Administrative service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).

Officer Facilities-
An IFS
Officer is wholly independent of the district administration and exercises
administrative, judicial and financial powers in his own domain. Positions in
State Forest Department such as Divisional Forest Officers (DFO), Conservator of
Forest (CF), and etc. are held only by IFS officers. The Highest ranking IFS
Officer in each state is the Head of Forest Forces (HoFF),

Indian Forest Service -
a) IFS Eligibility Criteria-
*Nationality-
· A citizen of India
· A subject of Bhutan
· A subject of Nepal
· A Tibetan refugee who came India
before 1st January 1963
*Educational Qualification-
· Candidates should have a Bachelor’s
Degree with at least one of the subjects- 1. Animal Husbandry & Vetenary
Science, 2. Botany, 3. Chemistry, 4. Geology, 5. Mathematics, 6. Physics, 7.
Statistics & 8. Zoology
· Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or
Forestry or Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent.
· Candidates appearing in the final
exam (with one of those subjects) are also eligible to apply.
*Age
Limit-
Age must in between 21 years to 30 years. Although Upper age limit
will be relaxable in such a way-
· For SC/ST- Up to 5 years
· For OBC- Up to 3 years
· For candidates from Jammu &
Kashmir – Up to 5 years
· For Defence Service Personal- Up to 5
years
· For Ex-Serviceman(at least 5years in
Military Service)- Up to 5 years
· For Handicapped person- Up to 10
years
