There are several indices published every year. And they are really important in Competitive Exams Like SSC CGL, SSC MTS, SSC GD, RRB NTPC, RRB GROUP D, RRB JE, SSC JE etc. Based on India’s performance every year India’s ranking changes in different Indexes. So, in this article we are going to discuss the important Indices and their publishers, India’s Ranking in Different indexes etc.
Ranking and Index 2026:
1. Hanley Passport Index 2026:
India Ranks 76th in the Hanley Passport Index 2026 and in 2025 it was in the 80th position. It is published by International Air Transport Authority i.e. IATA every year. With Indian Passport one can get access to 56 countries Visa-free or Visa-on-Arrival or eTA. In Hanley Passport Index 2026, Singapore is holding the 1st position with access to 192 Countries, Visa-Free.
2. Global Firepower Index 2026:
Global Firepower Index is published by Global Firepower and it determines the nation's POWER Index in both Military and Financial. India is holding it's 4th position just like Global Firepower Index 2025. In Global Firepower Index 2026 United States is in the top position.
3. Global Peace Index 2025:
Global Peace Index 2025 i.e. GPI is published by IEP i.e. Institute for Economics and Peace. In 2025 Global Peace Index India ranks 115th among the 163 Countries. In this Index Iceland is in the Top Position and Russia is in the Bottom position.
4. Climate Change Performance Index 2026:
India Ranks 23rd in the Climate Change Performance Index 2026. It is published by combination of German watch, New Climate Institute and Climate Action Network International. India's rank in the Climate Change Performance Index 2026 is slipped by 13, it was 10th in Climate Change Performance Index 2025. It was 1st published in 2005.
5. Global AI Vibrancy Index 2026 (3rd):
Published by Stanford’s HAI, this index places India right behind the US and China. Driven by an unmatched pool of raw engineering talent, aggressive enterprise adoption, and massive open-source contributions, India is actively building the global AI foundation rather than just consuming it.
6. Global Innovation Index (38th):
According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), India has climbed from 66th place in 2019 to 38th in FY25–26. Fuelled by an ecosystem of over 200,000 recognized startups and aggressive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes in electronics and semiconductors, India now ranks first in innovation across Central and Southern Asia.
7. Network Readiness Index (45th):
Evaluates digital transformation capabilities. India scores heavily on affordable mobile data and the phenomenal, ubiquitous reach of the UPI ecosystem, though rural digital literacy remains a hurdle.
8. Energy Transition Index (70th):
Released by the World Economic Forum, India moved up two spots this year and was highlighted as a "top global improver." The nation is aggressively scaling its renewable grid (creating over 1.3 million green jobs), but its ranking is held back by the massive amounts of baseline coal still required to power an industrializing giant
9. Global Soft Power Index (30th):
Brand Finance places India in the top 30, reflecting its rich cultural export, growing diplomatic clout, and international diaspora pull
10. World Happiness Index 2026:
World Happiness Index 2026 was published by United Nations Sustainable Development Solution Network i.e. UN SDSN. India's rank has improved in the World Happiness Index 2025 and India is now holding the 116th position (It was 118th in 2025). Finland is holding the top position in the World Happiness Index for 8 consecutive year.
11. Corruption Perceptions Index (91st):
With a score of 39/100 from Transparency International, India logged a minor one-point improvement from last year. However, it indicates that ordinary citizens and small businesses still face considerable administrative friction.
12. Human Development Index 2026:
Human Development Index 2026 was published by UNDP i.e. United Nations Development Programme. India ranks 130th among the 193 countries in the Human Development Index 2025. Iceland is holding the top position in this index.
13. World Press Freedom Index 2026:
World Press Freedom Index 2026 was published by Reporters Without Borders (RWB). India ranked 157st in the World Press Freedom Index 2026. It defines the level of press and media freedom across the countries worldwide.
14. Global Hunger Index 2025:
Global Hunger Index 2025 has been released by co-operation of two organisation i.e. Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhlife. In Global Hunger Index 2025 India Ranks 102nd among 123 countries, which is classified as serious.
15. Air Quality Life Index 2025:
Air Quality Life Index 2025 was published by Michael Greenstone and Energy Policy Institute (EPIC - University of Chicago). India ranks 2nd in the Air Quality Life Index 2025 which means India has the 2nd most polluted country. The most polluted country in the world in Bangladesh.
16. Global Terrorism Index 2025:
Global Terrorism Index 2025 was published by Institute for Economics and Peace i.e. IEP. India holds 14th position in the Global Terrorism Index 2025 among the 163 countries.
17. World Competitiveness Index 2025:
World Competitiveness Index 2025 was published by IMD i.e. International Institute for Management Development. India ranks 41st among the 69 countries in the World Competitiveness Index 2025. Switzerland topped in this Index.
18. Human Development Index 2025:
Human Development Index 2025 was published by UNDP i.e. United Nations Development Programme. India ranks 130th among the 193 countries in the Human Development Index 2025. Iceland is holding the top position in this index.
19. Rule of Law Index 2025:
Rule of Law Index 2025 was published by World Justice Project and India ranked 86th in this index among the 143 countries. India was in the 79th position in the Rule of Law Index 2024. Denmark is holding the top position in the Rule of Law Index 2025.
20. Global Liveability Index 2025:
The Economist Intelligence Unit has published the Global Liveability Index 2025. It expresses which city has the best or worst condition of living. India's two city ranked 141st among the 173 cities globally. Those two cities of India are New Delhi and Mumbai.
21. World Economic Outlook 2025:
IMF i.e. International Monetary Fund released World Economic Outlook Index 2025. India is holding the 4th position in the World Economic Outlook Index 2025.
