RRB Station Master Vacancies and Salary 2026

    • Total Vacancies: There are approximately 1,250 tentative vacancies spread across all Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). 

    • Salary Structure: The Station Master post is classified under Pay Level-6 as per the 7th CPC. The starting basic pay for this role is ₹35,400. 

RRB Station Master Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the strict eligibility parameters set by the Railway Board.

    • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 and 33 years of age as of January 1, 2027. This normal age limit includes a three-year age relaxation per extant rules. 

    • Educational Qualification: A Graduation Degree from a recognized university (or its equivalent) is mandatory. 

    • Medical Standard: Candidates must clear the stringent A-2 medical standard required for railway operations. 

• PwBD Suitability: The Station Master post is not suitable for candidates in the VI, HI, LD, OD, and MD categories. 

RRB Station Master Selection Process and New Exam Pattern

The selection methodology for CEN No. 08/2026 has been heavily streamlined. The process consists of a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and a medical examination. 

    • CBT Pattern: The single-stage CBT will be conducted for 120 minutes and consists of 100 marks. 

    • CBAT Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for the Aptitude Test (CBAT) at a ratio of 8 times the RRB-wise vacancies, based on their performance in the CBT. 

    • Final Merit Calculation: The final merit list for DV will give 70% weightage to the CBT score and 30% weightage to the CBAT score. Only candidates who pass the CBAT will be considered for this final list. 

Revised RRB Station Master CBT Syllabus (100 Marks)

The Railway Board has operationalized a revised syllabus framework specifically for the Station Master CEN 2026 cycle. The 100-mark paper is divided into three core components: 

• Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability (60 Marks): This component is split evenly into two sections. 

o Basic Science and Mathematics (30 marks): Covers number systems, percentages, geometry, trigonometry, and probability, alongside basic science topics like units, mass, work, energy, heat, and basic electricity. 

o Data Analysis & Interpretation (30 marks): Focuses on multi-source data analysis, reading tabular/graphical data (pie charts, scatter plots), Venn diagrams, and data sufficiency. 

• Logical Capability (20 Marks): This section includes logical reasoning topics such as binary logic, syllogism, clocks, and blood relations. It also uniquely features English Reading Comprehension, requiring candidates to read passages on topics like science, technology, or history and answer questions regarding the main idea and logical structure. 

• Mental Reasoning (20 Marks): This section tests pattern recognition through analogy, series completion, and coding-decoding problems.
