*What is IES/ISS-

The Indian Economic Service (IES) is the administrative inter-ministerial civil service under Group A of the Central Civil Service of the executive branch of the Gov. of India.

The Indian Statistical Service (ISS) is an organized Group-A Civil Service of the Executive branch of Gov. of India.

 

UPSC IES/ISS Exam: Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Exam Date

UPSC conducts Indian Economic Service (IES)/Indian Statistical Service (ISS) examination every year.

IES/ISS Exam  important Dates-

·       Date of Notification-   March,

·       Last Date Of Application- April,

·       Date of Exam- June, 

A)  Eligibility Criteria-

*Nationality-

·       A citizen of India

·       A subject of Bhutan

·       A subject of Nepal

·       A Tibetan refugee who came India before 1st January 1963

*Age Limit-

Age must in between 21 years to 30 years. Although Upper age limit will         be relaxable in such a way-

·       For SC/ST- Up to 5 years

·       For OBC- Up to 3 years

·       For candidates from Jammu & Kashmir – Up to 5 years

·       For Defence Service Personal- Up to 5 years

·       For Ex-Serviceman(at least 5years in Military Service)- Up to 5 years

·       For Handicapped person- Up to 10 years

*Educational Qualification-

For Indian Economic Service (IES):

Candidates must have a Post-Graduate degree in Economic/Applied Economic/Business Economics/Econometrics from recognized University.

For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University.

B)  Exam Pattern:

IES/ISS exam has two parts as follows-

·       PART 1: Written Examination(1000 marks)

·       PART 2: Interview(200 marks)
