In India, 15th January is celebrated as Indian Army Day. In this year it becomes the 73rd Army Day.

Why Indian Army Day is Celebrated?
Ans. In the recognition of Lieutenant General K MCariappa taking over as the 1st
Commander-in-chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher (the
last Commander-in-Chief of India). Army Day marks a day to salute the valiant
soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our Country and our people.

Who is the 1st Indian Army
Officer?
In 1949, K M Cariappa becomes the first
Indian Army Officer.

Why does Indian Army Day Celebrated on
15th January?
Ans. The Indian Army was established on 1st
April,1895. However, After Independence on 15th January,1949 the Army got its
